How to Transfer Money From An EBT Card to Cash App?

To transfer money from your EBT card to your Cash App, you must first withdraw money from your EBT card at a nearby Quest ATM or a retail store that allows EBT cash withdrawals. Then, visit a store that does Cash App deposits and give the cashier the amount you want to add to your Cash Card. Alternatively, you can use the cash you withdrew to buy a gift card (Visa or MasterCard) from a local retailer. And add the gift card to your Cash App to make purchases.

How to Load Money to The Cash App Card At A Retail Store?

How to Load Money to The Cash App Card At A Retail Store?

Cash App has thousands of partner stores throughout the United States that enable you to easily load money onto your Cash Card. All you need to do is visit a participating store and ask the cashier for a cash deposit. Once the cashier scans your unique barcode, you can load up to $500 to the app balance, and the money will be readily available on your Cash Card.

Popular retailers that allow paper money deposits to the Cash App include:

  • Walmart
  • 7-Eleven
  • Walgreens
  • H-E-B
  • Dollar General
  • Family Dollar
  • Thorntons
  • KwikTrip
  • GoMart
  • StopNGo

Use the following guide to add money to the Cash Card at one of the listed store locations:

Step 1: Search for a nearby retail store that supports paper money deposits.

Click on the bank/building icon in the bottom-left corner of the Cash App and choose the Paper Money option to locate a store where you can load money to your Cash Card. Give Cash App permission to access your location when asked so that you can use the map feature to locate a participating retailer. Once you have the location services turned on for your mobile device, you can search for an address or locate the store closest to you.

Step 2: Choose the store where you want to load your Cash Card.

To get the address to a store you want to visit, tap on it on the map. You will also find more options, for instance, those to get directions and display a barcode. To begin navigating, tap Directions on the location’s information window. You can select the Copy Address option if you want to navigate to the address using Google Maps or Apple Maps.

Step 3: Ask the store cashier for a paper money deposit to your Cash Card.

When you arrive at the store, inform the cashier that you want to deposit money into the Cash App by scanning your barcode. You do not need to swipe your card for the deposit; you just need to provide your barcode. Generally, you can walk right up to the cash counter at average retail stores. However, in the case of big supermarket stores like Walmart and HEB, you must go to the customer service desk at the store entrance. Some stores may request your ID for verification before allowing you to make a deposit, so have it at hand.

Step 4: Show your unique barcode to the cashier to scan.

In the Cash App, go to Banking > Paper Money, tap the store on the map, and then choose the Show Barcode option. Next, the cashier will scan this code so you can deposit the money into your Cash App balance.

If the cashier is unable to assist you, click the question mark(?) or Need help? link below the barcode to find instructions to complete the deposit.

Step 5: Pay the cashier.

Finally, you must pay the deposit amount to the cashier. There is a $5 minimum deposit requirement and a $500 maximum per deposit. Also, each paper money deposit carries a $1 fee.

Each barcode allows for a single transaction. If you want to deposit more than $500, you will need to complete the first transaction. Then, generate a new barcode by repeating the previous step and making a second deposit.

Step 6: Finish the transaction.

Click Done to complete the transaction. It generally takes just a moment for the deposited money to show up in your Cash App balance, although it can occasionally take a few minutes. The money will be available on your Cash Card as soon as it appears in your app balance.
